TV drama Moreland’s Firm spotted filming in city centre

The crime drama taglined “Tyneside will never be the same” has been filming key scenes for the show

Geordie stars have been spotted out filming in Newcastle city centre as excitement builds for the planned new series.

DCI Banks’ Stephen Tompkinson, former Emmerdale actress Victoria Temperley and Craig Conway, of Our Friends in the North and Dog Soldiers fame, are among the cast along with Bill Fellows, of Downton Abbey .

Gary Webster, who was in Minder, and The Bill’s Kim Tiddy also star, along with Lesley Saint-John and Tony Hodge, who last acted together in Byker Grove. And doorman-turned-actor Steve Wraith, from Gateshead, has a key role.

The mini series tells the story of gangster Michael Moreland, played by Craig Conway, who tries to strike the balance between a happy home life and running his criminal empire. Stephen Tompkinson plays gangster Dave Guppy.

The series has been written by Danny Cox, from Whitley Bay, and is directed by Ferson.

On Tuesday night Craig Conway was out filming for the pilot episode opposite Newcastle Castle with other cast and crew. The scene involved a blonde woman in scarlet underwear and scarlet boots kissing a man in a bright blue anorak before an imposing trio of gangsters walk by.

Tickets are on sale for a promotional screening with cast and crew with a promising sell-out audience, Screen 1 will open it’s doors at 7pm on Thursday 28th November @ VUE Gateshead.
